If you install the driver, it will show up as a device in Finale. There are some
aggravations I have with the thing that are the fault of the driver:
You must install with out the device plugged in, shut down, plug it in, and restart.
Then it will show up.
If you unplug the device, restart without it plugged in, you'll have to reinstall the
driver, because windows forgets about it.

As long as I keep my USB MIDI controller plugged in, I have no problems.

Just my experience,

Allen

Subject: [Finale] MIDI keyboards: request for advice

I shall be taking my Winfin 2004 equipped HP laptop (using Windows XP)
away on a composition course shortly, and want to be able to use a MIDI
keyboard for Speedy entry. The laptop lacks the game port that I use on
my desktop to connect a MIDI keyboard to it, but has USB2. There are
products (in particular the Keystation 49 from Midiman of Arcadia, CA)
that are claimed to provide MIDI information via USB (and can be powered
by it). Has any of you used this hardware set-up? My concern is
whether Finale will be able to find the keyboard via USB.

TIA
