The MUS files are compressed, while the temp files (if I remember 
correctly) are uncompressed swap files towards Btrieve.
Anyway, temporary files would make sense on computer systems 5-
10 years ago, where a typical setup would be 16MB RAM. However, 
today's computers have much much more memory than that, and I 
really think Finale should be a bit more up-to-date and at least 
include an option to not use temp files (=handle all things in RAM 
instead, which would also be faster).
I'm going to send in a feature request about that today!
