Greetings Listers,
I am working on an arrangemnet of "And All That Jazz" from Chicago. How do I indicate that I want the trumpet to use a plunger? Is there an articulation that I can use?
It depends on whether you want to indicate the specific wahs, or leave it up to the player. If the latter, simply indicate "plunger" and leave it at that.
I am thinking of using what looks like an upward slur before the note...but I don't know how to make one.
My instinct goes against using this to indicate a wah, since it has the alternate meaning of a pull-up. I would probably use the small cross (indicating closed) and circle (indicating open) that are standard for horn stopping, and if you want a wah on a single note I would probably write "wah" above it. A hairpin on the single note might also work.
