I stopped my iBook constantly trying to connect to the Internet by doing this:
In PPP options (on my iBook this is in System preferences> Network> Internal Modem> PPP), deselect the option "Connect automatically when needed".
Of course, now I must prompt the Mac to connect to the Internet when I need it to, but I much prefer things this way round. Make sure you have the modem status showing in the menu bar (this is a setting in the "Internet Connect" app) and you can connect to the Internet using the menu that appears when you click on the modem icon.
Best wishes,
Michael Cook

About 1/3 of the time, when I boot up in OSX Panther, the OS immediately attempts to connect to the internet. I thought this might be because it was attempting to register some of my new software, or that it was doing a Software Update thingy, but when I let it connect, it just goes online and nothing happens.
Why is it doing this, and how can I make it stop? _______________________________________________ Finale mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale
