Andrew-- Do you have something in your log-in items that requires an internet connection?
To check: 1. Bring up System Preferences 2. Click Accounts 3. Click your account 4. Click Start Up Items Look and see if anything in the list (if any) might be requiring you to dial up. A likely suspect would be something like Entourage or Eudora that pings your email server on login. You can uncheck the offending item(s) and they should bother you no more :-) Allen -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Andrew Stiller Sent: Wednesday, September 01, 2004 2:04 PM To: finale list Subject: [Finale] more OSX annoyances About 1/3 of the time, when I boot up in OSX Panther, the OS immediately attempts to connect to the internet. I thought this might be because it was attempting to register some of my new software, or that it was doing a Software Update thingy, but when I let it connect, it just goes online and nothing happens. Why is it doing this, and how can I make it stop? _______________________________________________ Finale mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale _______________________________________________ Finale mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale
