That's not likely to be of much utility to you as more and more people are going to use these services as provided by their ISPs, rather than through 3rd-party providers. > >And if I emailed > >someone, I'd whitelist their email address in anticipation of > >receiving a reply. > > There's one of the problems. Indeed, I don't really even understand what you mean here. I maintain various email identies, too, for various roles I have. But I utilize the same outgoing email in a response as was used to send to. That is, if someone emails me at [EMAIL PROTECTED], I respond with [EMAIL PROTECTED] If someone emails me at [EMAIL PROTECTED], I respond with [EMAIL PROTECTED] If I *don't* do that, then I end up with the rest of an email conversation coming in on the wrong email address. So, I dont' really understand what you're saying about your own email addresses, as it seems self-contradictory on its face of the whole concept of maintaining multiple identities -- if all your replies go out under one address, why maintain multiple identities in the first place? It seems patently obvious to me: Current problems with challenge/response systems are mostly due to pilot error. The problems are not inherent in the systems themselves, but in people's lack of familiarity (or lack of understanding) of how the systems should be used. That will change over time. -- David W.
