It has existed as long as I've been using Finale, which goes back to 1990-91, with WinFin2.01. I believe there's some actual reason why the target measure "rejects" the copy, and there's probably some consistency about it that is by design. But I've never been able to puzzle out exactly what it is, so if the drag doesn't work, I do CTRL- SHIFT-CLICK, which always works. -- David W.
