Thirded. This is like objecting to internet search engines.
Searchable online list archives benefit everyone.
If you're *that* concerned about copyright, then don't post here.
I have no problem with my messages appearing there. However, I am
_very_ concerned about their email address policy, especially as it
is completely unnecessary. I do not want to see my email address on
any publically accessable server, unless I have given permission to
do so.
Then STOP USING THIS LIST. You have no idea where the emails are
going, or what is being done with them. Just because theft is illegal
doesn't mean I leave my wallet lying around.
Do you realize what you are asking here? You're saying that someone
has to give up basic rights to their content in order to participate
in this highly useful forum.
No. I'm asking that people live in the real world, and accept that if
their gold-dust utterances are broadcast to thousands of unknown
recipients, it's possible that they may be reproduced further without
full clearance.
That was *not* the case until this third party (completely unrelated
to anyone involved with the list) became involved.
The third party hasn't been involved in this discussion at all. I'd
like any of those worried about their copyright to honestly say that
there's a previous posting that they specifically do not want to be
reproduced.
