In my case, files backed up to external HDs are equally venerable, not to mention HD shouldn't be a preferred backup media because of its limited shelf life.
What? You are not seriously suggesting that CD-Rs or Tapes are safer than external backup HDs, which are only connected and running while the backup is doing its thing? I have had numerous CDs fail, and judging by the failure rate of old Audio DATs I would not ever trust anything stored on tape for more than a year.
Yes, HDs are vulnerable, but they are mostly vulnerable to directory failures, not so much to Hardware failures. Certainly judging from my own experience much less vulnerable than CDs.
Perhaps my experience is not representative. Johannes -- http://www.musikmanufaktur.com http://www.camerata-berolinensis.de _______________________________________________ Finale mailing list [email protected] http://lists.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale
