I know this is not really the place, but after all the complaining about
Fin2k6, I have just encountered something a lot worse:

The latest Bias Peak 5. Just got it two days ago. It actually is a
downgrade in functionality, making it completely unusable for the
classical editing and mastering I have done with Peak for years. With
the previous versions I have edited several CDs. With Peak 5 this is
completely impossible.

This is by far the worst application update I have ever paid for, and I
paid a lot for it, as the German distributor asks for the same amount in
Euros, as the amount in US, which is a really bad deal for an anyhow
overpriced upgrade. Wow. I don't think I have been so upset in years!

Thank God for Finale, at least it's unlikely they do such a major strip
down in features. This would be like stripping Finale of MassEdit
functionality.

As long as we're OT, I can only echo Johannes' observations about software upgrades lately. They are no longer upgrades, but they are *adventures*! (My Fin2k6 upgrade/adventure is still in its shrink-wrapped container several months after its delivery. I'm just not up to the risks of installing it [sigh]. I wonder if I can return it and wait until next year ...)
