I know this is not really the place, but after all the complaining about Fin2k6, I have just encountered something a lot worse:

The latest Bias Peak 5. Just got it two days ago. It actually is a downgrade in functionality, making it completely unusable for the classical editing and mastering I have done with Peak for years. With the previous versions I have edited several CDs. With Peak 5 this is completely impossible.

Thanks for the tip Johannes. I have been a fan of Peak - there were so many things in it which were helpful, and which just seemed to work 'right' - but it's good to know to avoid this latest incarnation.

Peak is expensive, you're correct. As my wallet has been shrinking recently, I've been instead using Amadeus II instead, and have been impressed with many of the features. Not quite up there with Peak (probably more like Peak LE - no playlists, convolving etc.), but a helluva lot cheaper at US$30.
