Would mirrors allow you to do this with hidden staves?

I've had a similar situation with harpsichord parts, where I wanted
to have switches of manuals from a single course of strings to both
manuals coupled down, along with a 4 foot course (so, 8' alone, 8'+8'
and 8'+8'+4'), and I did it with a hidden staff. I actually just
copied the music and transposed it, but I contemplated the
possibility of using mirrors, but decided not to do it that way in
the end.

I believe I remember that you have used mirrors successfully in the
past (because of the amount of doubling in the repertory you work in,
lots of "col primo" second violin parts, of course), so maybe that
would be an easy option for you.

BTW, how are you getting both harpsichord and cello to play back a
single line? Have you copied it into a layer with an independent
instrument playback?
