It depends on the trouble. When troubleshooting Finale, MIDI problem can be BIOS level, driver level, or IRQ level. The ease on Mac side is, because it is not registry dependent, you can freely move files around to prevent loading in the course of troubleshooting, which is not easy to do on Windows. The most of the tough calls are at drivers. PCs and its peripherals are manufactured by many different vendors.
