3 months ago they may not have known whether they could feasibly deliver a
universal binary. You can't just decide these things in a vacuum. Before you
make an announcement like this, you have to prove to yourself you can do it,
and that takes time and money. 3 months ago, MM was likely deep in the 06b
release cycle.
3 months ago they may not have known whether they could feasibly deliver
2k7 as Universal Binary, but they could have _decided_ that they were
eventually going to deliver a version of Finale in Universal binary. All
they did say was that they were looking into it.
I know for a fact that it lost them at least one potential customer.
