The "standard" way of doing this is to have an open bracket at the beginning, but close it whenever
- the stem direction changes
- at system ends
- there are notes without articulations in between
- there are rests in between.

Some also close and reopen for every bar.

That's not to say one doesn't see it the way you did it, but personally I do find that very obstrusive, and cannot see any advantages.

As for the practical side of it, you can define separate brackets for the main articulations (I usually only need strokes and staccato dots bracketed). I have metatools
5 = left bracket for dot
6 = right bracket for dot
7 = left and right (ie fully closed) bracket for dot
8,9,0 = same for strokes
