Guess I was a bit unclear. The lack of recognition of the text blocks

double bar, which seems the only way to appease the Finale goblins.
Is the *text* gone, too, or just the text block assigned to a page?
You can check by selecting the text tool, then on the Text menu,
choosing Edit Text, and cycling through the text blocks. This UI
seems to be a legacy of the ancient text interface (which was
terrible), but does allow you to create and edit text that is not
assigned to anything in your score. I use such a non-assigned text
block for keeping track of readings in original sources that I'm
changing in my Finale score.
My experiments show that the text remains, but the blank page is gone.
However, adding a new blank page to replace the old blank page does NOT
get the text block to show up again.
As if Finale deletes any connection with the text block's original
location when the page it is attached to disappears, rather than simply
making it inactive so that when a new page 2 (in my experiments) shows
up, that text block which was originally attached to page 2 doesn't
re-activate and appear on page 2 like it was assigned to.
So then the question arises, why does Finale keep that text block in
data at all, since it won't show it again? Why not simply delete it?
