As I currently add lots of cues to parts, and depend heavily on TGTools

in Fin2007. Is there any loss of functionality compared to the old way of
extracting parts?
There are differences. You may or may not find that there is any loss. Aaron
Sherber answered this question well. To his answer I would only add that if you
use plugins, you will find yourself mildly irritated with the fact that the
plugin menu becomes grayed out when viewing a part. There are two simple ways
around this. You can switch quickly back to score view to run the plugin.
(There is a handy keyboard toggle for this.)
Or you can run the plugin from a modeless window that you open in score view
before switching to the part view. This is handy for plugins like JW Space
Systems where running it in score view doesn't buy you anything.
I'm not sure what MM was trying to accomplish by graying out the plugin menu in
part view. So far as I can tell, all it accomplishes is pissing off users
before they figure out how to skirt it.
One guess as to why this will happen is that since changes in part-view
will also happen in score view and might wreak more havoc in score view
than one would imagine while in part view, the developers figured that
they would make us have to go back to score view so we could be sure
things didn't get "ruined" there while we were happily looking at a part
which ended up just right.
Or perhaps it's just a bug which will be fixed in Fin2007a.
Or perhaps it's a to-be-improved feature that will eventually have
plug-ins be designated as score-view-only, part-view-only or
either-view, and then those plug-ins which are "either" or
"part-view-only" will be accessible in part-view (with the
score-view-only plug-ins grayed out) and those which are part-view-only
will be grayed out when in score-view.
