What makes you think I haven't looked at Lilypond in depth?

Batch processing is a stupid idea with modern computing power.

Text entry for musical data is a completely non-musical and 
unfriendly way to get the data into the computer.

Someday, perhaps they'll have a GUI for the musical data.

When that day comes, it will be worth looking at for regular 
notational use.

For now, it's only use is server-side score rendering, so far as I 
can tell.
