I thought we were talking about how some (Adobe) fonts have an alternate set of numerals with descenders, which can be accessed as additional glyphs.
The sample of the font on the Identifont page gives you the basic character set only, with no indication of any additional glyphs that the font may contain. Some display fonts (eg, Zapfino) have a zillion alternate character glyphs.
