Come on, program a saxophone? That's like programming a chainsaw ;-) Next you'll want a saxophone to play *gasp* dynamics!

In anything wind band-ish, I tend to do the same. Second or Third alto/tenor/bari. The 1st ones.......no. Hardly ever. They seem to stick out no matter how you mix it. Too much edge. But for Jazz arrangements, definitely. Or wind band things that have swing or pop influence, yeah.

The only thing I don't like about GPO or the Jazz one are the trumpets. I'm never very happy with how they sound. Though, I do like the muted trumpets. Those sound great. But in arrangements I've been doing, I tend to put Solo Trumpet on the 1st or lead part, then put the other trumpet ensemble sections on the other parts. I also have been layering GPO trumpets with my Roland sound module. Seems to make them sound better.....sightly.....

But Garritan libraries at the prices offered this year......what a steal!

Yes, Eric, the first saxes seem to be edgier, perhaps to be used for lead lines?...I used the second and third alto, the second tenor and bari, and the second bass, all "light" to save space and because I didn't need (or better--didn't want to mess with) any of the special programming.
