Thank you sir. I wonder if the concert band set will have more perc. choices ... like at present I could really use castanets and temple blocks.

Dean,
The concert band set is due in January AFAIK. The euphoniums alone will be worth the purchase price. I did NOT use Finale for these demos, I used Overture 4, which is a full VST host and has easier MIDI programming ability that Finale's MIDI tool... I do, however, know how to do it in (Windows) Finale, and will contact you off list. Quick explanation: Make sure that you COPY (not move) the JABB .dll file into Finale's FinaleVST directory (assuming you use a PC; I'm sure the Mac side is similar.)
I did turn the volume down quite a bit on the JABB saxes.
Best,
Jim W.

Subject: Re: [Finale] TAN: Garritan Group buy

Thanks Jim. I think I could be pretty happy with those sax sounds in the mix, but as Eric pointed out, the classical sound might be worth waiting for. Does anyone know when this should be available? Jim, when you have a few minutes, could you write me privately and tell me how you physically loaded the JABB samples into your GPO or FIN/GPO Document?

Thanks,

Dean

I dunno. Depends on which ones you use. The 1st ones seem to have a lot of edge, but the 2nd and 3rd ones have less. Those seem to blend a little better for concert band stuff.

But, hopefully, the forthcoming Garritan collection will feature sampled classical saxophones, cause there is a huge difference in tone, vibrato, etc....

This was done with GPO, Finale GPO (for a couple extra clarinets) and JABB for saxes...

as was this: http://www.esnips.com/doc/3a1e27b3- cfc7-48c4-9e00-87c397e0b79e

The JABB saxes seem to me a bit edgy for concert band work, or I didn't take enough programming time to fix the sound.
