Jef: the problem with flame wars

david, um, i actually thought the silly putty comment was quite funny, didn't you hear me laughing? sorry you don't share my sense of humour.

1) if someone says something OT that you consider stupid

it's more involved than that, i don't have a problem with stupid comments, i did after all suggest silly putty could be used as ammunition. but when someone makes a forceful comment based in no reality whatsoever in a public venue as if it was some sort of universal truth, sometimes another someone will step in and bring it to the first someone's attention just how faulted their comments are... especially when someone A either completely evades any responsibility for their comments or continues to argue the point completely ignoring any attempt by someones B, C, D, E, F ... at reasonable discussion about the issue(s).

in my experience, some make such blatant comments because they are just closed-minded and some do it because they realise they might be closed-minded but presently lack the key or initiative to get beyond their own restricted perception of things and know where to go to get their ideas shaken up. and well, some people do it for other reasons.

Let's say, hypothetically, that Phil Daley doesn't really like any music after about Landini. Ask yourself the question, "Does that matter?"

i've already made it clear i couldn't give a rat's ass.
