The theory - among the MM guys, is that in Simple, you can add articulations and dynamics within the same tool - the same entry window. I get that, and I can see that as a way to save a step or two. However, I find that my way of thinking about music takes a certain amount of cogitation - time to think about how loud, long, or short the notes will need to be, and during that thinking process, there's plenty of time to change tools to add the necessary markings. Maybe I just don't work so quickly as to make that additional convenience important enough to stumble through the relearning process. I'm so used to thinking pitch first, then duration, and Simple reverses that.

I just tried that, with the articulations and expressions, and I don't find right-clicking and then using a metatool to be that much faster than changing tools and using a metatool. And the interruption in work-flow (note, mess with articulation and dynamic, note, mess with articulation, note, mess with articulation, note, note, etc.) would drive me crazy.

That's probably why I've never taken to simple entry -- I still use the same workflow as I use in speedy -- all the notes, quick as can be, then dynamics, then articulations and then smartshapes.

But that's one of the nice things about having two ways to do things -- it suits more people. Just as long as the developers aren't prevented from working on Speedy Entry just because the Big Cheese says that Simple Entry is what they're going to promote.
