How did you do the curvy staves?? Your score is beautiful btw ;)
It's coming. A rush job that I got last week.
The curvy staves (and you know how many times I've asked for this!) are
single curved lines exactly the same thickness as the staff lines, done in
shape designer, and placed with a metatool. And there are all those
staggered barlines, and the part-within-a-score that I asked about here
last week. Yes, it's a giant kludge!
The biggest problem with the curved staves is the difference between the
screen display and the resulting PDF. I may have to learn how to hand-edit
Postscript so they touch the actual staff exactly.
Very clever! I'm extremely impressed with your work, Dennis!
Your work is definitely within that 5% or 1% that Sibelius wouldn't be
able to handle, from what I know so far. But a better test would be to
submit that page to a real Sibelius expert, such as Daniel Spreadbury,
and ask his opinion about the possibility of doing that in Sibelius.
Heck, if someone had asked me if it were possible entirely in Finale,
I'd have said "No." and you've just shown me that a determined and quite
excellent Finale user could do what I would have thought impossible, so
the potential may well be there in Sibelius, but just as I don't think
you would have been able to do produce that score in the demo version of
Finale as a new user, so, too, someone using the demo version of
Sibelius wouldn't be able to, either, so it's not a fair test.
