No guesses on how to fix it? Me neither. Time for brute force.

I worked backwards, looking for the last symbol that wasn't affected by the
dashes -- the enclosed measure 37 marking. Because the score's measures
aren't synchronized between parts, the measure markings are all placed as
expressions. I removed the expression and recompiled the Postscript and the
error was gone. I put it back in (from a new version) and the error
returned. So instead of placing it again as a measure expression, I placed
it as a note expression. No dashed-line errors.

Instead, the dashed lines now reappeared on page 23. I removed a measure
expression and replaced it with a score expression; problem gone.

But now the dashed lines reappeared once again, on page 28! This time,
there were no clues. I removed the last elements I had added, one by one.
This time, it was a dashed-line smart shape; no matter where I put it, the
entire page compiled with those dashed lines everywhere. So for this draft
anyway, I just used a solid line.

Total lost time: three hours. Long enough to miss the outgoing mail for the
day.

I'm tellin ya, Finale is a house of cards weaker by the year. 9-flip
enharmonics are crashing, hyphens are crashing and, of course, the match
between on-screen graphics display and their Postscript compilation is
still not exact, even at the highest magnifications. Now this.

Makes me crazy.
