I did not read the post as referring to 8va notation, but you could
be correct. However, no violinist would automatically read a change
to the super-8 G-clef because it's simply never used. In fact the
great majority wouldn't even notice it. Best useage is still to use
8va brackets, but perhaps breaking the brackets except for the
beginning of each new staff.
