I'm not arguing against your logic, or what you are comfortable with. However, since chord symbols and roman numeral analysis figures are completely different systems designed for completely different uses, I don't quite understand linking them. For starters, chord symbols are completely independent of key signature, while roman numerals are tightly associated with it.
Note numbers? Please forgive my ignorance. Do you mean figured bass--yet a third system?
