Note number is to identify the note to the chord, i.e., if the melody is
C-D-E, and the chord is Db dm 7 in key of Bb Major:

Db dim 7 = bIII dim 7, meaning it is a tonal functioning diminished chord

C = Tension Major 7th of Db dim 7 chord, marked as [TM7]
D = Which is E double flat and is the second scale note, which can not
be a tension, marked as (S2)
E = Which is F-flat, and the minor 3rd of Db dim 7 chord, marked as [-3]

This analysis technique is used to compose jazz tunes as well as jazz
improvisation.
