Ted,

The first note value you enter defines the length of the triplet. If the first note you enter is a quarter note, Finale assumes you want 3 quarters in the space of 2 quarters. How is it supposed to know you actually want a quarter-eighth triplet (i.e., three eighths in the space of two eighths)? You have to tell Finale what you want, by entering an eighth note first, to initiate the 3-eighths-in-the-space- of-2 triplet. Once you've done that, you can go back change that first eighth to a quarter, and then finish the triplet with an eighth.

Cheers,

- Darcy

Greetings all,
I'm using FIN 07 on an XP system. I have used Finale for years. I'm stumped. I need to create an eighth note tuplet with the first note being a quarter and the second an eighth. I can make it with the first note an eighth and the second note a quarter but not the other way. I just can't seem to figure it out. Thanks for any help.
