Hey Chris,
No version of OS X officially supports processor upgrades, and 10.4
does not officially support the beige G3 either (only computers with
built-in Firewire & USB, which the beige G3 lacks). If he decides to
install it anyway, Lawrence will need to use XPostFacto to get around
that problem.
If 10.3.9 is running adequately on Lawrence's computer, there's really
no compelling reason to upgrade the OS unless there's some particular
piece of software he needs that requires 10.4.x.
