After using Fin2008 I now believe that the staff list mess was not the result of people "not knowing how to use their colours" but rather of Finale programmers not knowing how to modify Finale. 2008 introduced a horrible bug in copy/paste that caused staff lists to multiply like maggots in a carcass. (If you plan on using Fin2008 I strongly recommend using my Mass Copy plugin for copying expressions.)
Throwing out this feature rather than fixing it, all the while justifying their actions as redressing a problem with users, is by far the most craven deed ever perpetrated by the makers of Finale.
