Hi Darcy,
I have the same trouble, and I haven't been able to figure out how the
"filter" in the selection tool needs to be configured for the best
overall result. You can set it to not copy staff styles, but there
are some times when you want them copied. I also discovered that the
trouble I was having with staff styles in score and parts had to do
with how the selection tool copying process works (or doesn't work).
If you copy a staff style from one staff to another in the score, the
"use for score and parts" does not copy with it, so you need to take
another step before working with parts where you select all with the
staff tool and then apply the "score and parts" toggle (assuming you
want everything you have in the score to appear in the parts).

Hi all,
Now that TGTools is available for Fin2010, I've finally switched
over from Fin2008.
I am, overall, very happy with Fin2010 (the ability to right-justify
non-multimeasure rest measure numbers is great) but there is one
very serious annoyance:
In Fin2008, Cmd-X (cut) and the Clear key used to leave Staff Styles
alone. Now it removes them. This is a HUGE drag on my productivity,
because I use staff styles to handle all of my wind doubles -- and
my writing includes a LOT of wind doubles. Now, every time I change
my mind and use Cmd-X or Clear to remove music from, e.g., the Wind
1 staff, then enter something else, I have to go back and re-apply
the staff style for whatever instrument Wind 1 happens to be playing
at that moment (flute, alto flute, soprano sax -- you get the idea).
I also have to be much more methodical than ever before about
checking the staff styles on EVERY wind part to make sure they did
not get inadvertently deleted -- before I could just select a
region, hit the metatool for the Bass Clarinet staff style, and be
confident that all of the music in that region would be correctly
transposed for bass clarinet, no matter what kind of editing I was
doing. Now I have to double-check and triple-check everything.
How is everyone else dealing with this problem? It is currently a
huge source of frustration, and is slowing me down like you would
not believe.
Cheers,
- DJA
