The one method that apparently produces (more or less) ironclad
enharmonics in Speedy is to enter the note WITHOUT the accidental (if
you want F#, enter F) then hit the plus key for sharp and minus for
flat. Right beside the 9 key on the numeric keypad, so it is close
and less painful than proofreading EVERYTHING and switching back and
forth. I'm not sure how ironclad this is for chromatically
transposing instruments, though, as I don't do that as much now.

I have completely given up using the 9 key to flip enharmonic. It
hasn't worked reliably since linked parts were introduced. I always
use respell instead (where possible -- respell is still an awful
mess for chromatically transposing instruments), or change my
enharmonic settings and re-enter the note. Using the * key to show/
hide accidentals doesn't work reliably either, often requiring the
note to be re-entered.
Enharmonics are probably the single buggiest area of Finale. Coping
with all of them is *intensely* frustrating, especially for those
of us who use chromatically transposing instruments (for non-key
sig music).

was doing. Now I have to double-check and triple-check everything.
How is everyone else dealing with this problem? It is currently a
huge source of frustration, and is slowing me down like you would
not believe.

Yeah, it slows me down quite a bit too. I just make sure to put
the Staff Styles for transposition in AFTER I have finished
editing. One more step. Sigh.
I haven't figured out how to accomplish the Reset Staff Styles to
Score that I used to have to do all the time in 2009. Apparently
this behaviour is changed now, but I still end up with wrong staff
styles in my parts, and I haven't found the Reset menu item yet.
And the damned 9 key in Speedy STILL doesn't do what it should
100%. I still get notes flipping that shouldn't in the wrong
places. There's ANOTHER step I have to go through in the
proofreading, and I have precious little time for that nonsense.
