Sorry for not being clear enough. The pizz. was taken from the default set,
but since I could not find an arco to counteract this, I set up my own.
What playback parameters should I create for this? I have found it
confusing because there are the parameters that work the "old" way and those
for VST / GPO instruments. I would like to use GPO.

About the situation you describe:
I have just started (~30 bars) entering a work into Finale [2009] and I
have a problem with volume. There is a short passage of pizzicato
followed by a return to arco (the work is for string quartet and uses VST
instruments). The volume in the arco section is very quiet. If I change
the dynamics to ff, it makes no difference, but if I remove the pizz.
indication from the previous section then the volume is as expected. Is
this a known bug and is there a solution?
You don't specify the source of the pizzicato and arco expressions you
are using, that is, whether you used the ones included in the default
expression library, whether you created your own, or whether perhaps you
got the expressions from some other source. In any event, what you
describe sounds to me to be what I would expect if the "pizz."
expression was defined for playback, and the arco expression either was
not defined, or was defined using a different parameter.
And I would not expect dynamics to have an impact on the sound, unless
the controller modified in the "pizz." expression was Key velocity,
