That was my experience.  Sometimes they worked, sometimes not, and I couldn't 
figure out why.  It was inconsistent enough that I gave up on trying to control 
the behavior

Well, whoever gets to this first - I will be glad to see a report (or give one, 
if I am early in the game).

Maybe some beta testers have done this.

I does seem to me that, if there is provision for saxophone staves to switch to 
ww doubles, the same thing ought to work for brass, using the existing separate 
open and muted samples (or trumpet/flugelhorn samples).  Am I missing 
something?  I have not tried any of this, but I have become addicted to 
checking my music with Finale's playback, and the successive improvements do 
help.
