For those who might be struggling with this, I discovered this by accident.
When you change an instrument using the new Score Manager (say, from Alto Sax to Flute), the staff takes on the name of the new instrument. However, the font it uses is taken from the setting in Document Options>Fonts>Text>Staff Name (FULL) instead of Staff Name (Abbreviated), even though on the score you would only see the abbreviated name. You can edit this after the fact, but it would get rather long and tedious if you have many instruments changing frequently, like in a percussion staff. I would suggest changing the default Staff Name (full) setting in Doc Options to what you want, then you can change it back if you have new staves to create. In a related bug, if you ever change from a pitched percussion instrument like vibraphone to an unpitched instrument like drumset, the key signature changes to C with naturals at the start of the drumset notation. This is wrong, as the key signature should NOT be cancelled or shown, but rather simply ignored. You can't change this with Measure Attributes because it will change for ALL the other instruments in the score, but you should create a staff style to hide the key signature and apply it to the first bar of the drumset instrument. This will also hide the cautionary key change, if the drumset notation starts a new system. I would also prefer to be able to see where the new instrument notation shows up in the score, but you can't always get what you want.
