I'm so sorry to hear this news.   Yes, David could be brusque to the point of 
maddening frustration, but his passion for and knowledge of music were both 
immeasurable.   I learned much from him - mostly from his responses/posts to 
others here.   I regret that I offered my gratitude only on a couple of 
occasions when he provided information to my direct requests.

Sorry we never had the chance to meet in person; equally sorry I never had the 
chance to hear him MAKE music.
