In addition to the reappearing measure numbers annoyance there is a multiplying groups annoyance, which causes overlapping groups to accumulate in your document. I have been eyeing the Program Preferences "Automatic Instrument Family Group Brackets/Measure Numbers" thinking that unchecking them will probably do away with the annoying behavior.
