Tell me about it... I started to do a full,
clean install of windows yesterday, but even that
is giving me problems. I can't activate it, and
I can't find any way of actually getting to
*talk* to someone at microsoft to help. I keep
getting directed to automatic phone systems, and
web pages, and they all just keep failing with no reason given.

Now, I am also having programs which install - or
at least they *appear* to install - but then give
an error message about not being able to write to
the registry. I haven't even got a clue as to what the heck is going on...

I haven't put Finale back on yet, but yes, I had
rebooted numerous times during that whole process.

I am coming to the conclusion that the fault lies
with my new SSD. It all started around the time
I installed it. I have done everything I can think of on the software side.
I just visited the company web site, and their
forum is *full* of messages from people having
various problems with these things. It's like
there is a 'bad sector' out there somewhere, and
it just depends what program is slapped on that bit, what the errors are.

I think I am going to have to reinstall *again*,
on a proper hard drive. If there are none of
these problems from that, it pretty much has to
be their hardware. Not much point in it working
really fast, if it doesn't work all the time!

Sorry to rant at you guys about this. I don't
have anyone to complain at, and the cat is getting fed up with it!

Later,

Phil.
