Ok, I figured I was missing something, but *what*??? I have gone through everything you suggested, but it didn't work for me...
The only thing I haven't commented on, is the bit about checking boxes when upgrading. This was my first version of the program, so I have never upgraded. Pretty much everything I don't know about is just the way it came, if that makes sense. I am not sure why I had clicked on 'force hide staves', but I have taken that off now. Maybe it didn't hide for me originally, I can't remember. This is the only score I have used that on, so far. Most of my stuff is choir, or handbells, so I get to see everything in a stack without having to keep scrolling up and down. Ok, this is getting stranger... I just tried it again. Bearing in mind that I haven't been saving it after each attempt, when I first opened the file, it didn't have the big gap in the middle of the page. I went through making the changes, and the gap re-appeared when I did the 'select all'. What is it that you saw that I am missing???
