That only changes the rubber bands. I mean the *shape* won't hold its position or refuses to move as requested. It prefers to go to a beat position. This only happens in unusual time signatures or independent time signatures. But it's a real bear because there are times when the hairpin simply can't be positioned *at all* on a given staff -- it's always overruled.
