I Just noticed this bit of your last message, actually the command does not have to be executing, in fact the command had long since finished and I had used the terminal window for hours after the original command. The problem lies in the fact that Terminal remembers the string that it was told to execute when the window was created, and then it saves it as your default. The only way to fix it after that is to delete your preferences or edit the plist file and remove the offending line.
