Hi Rafe, nice to see you in these surroundings :-)

In fact, it seems that now I can't install anything new:

When it comes to debugging, dselect is not very useful. You might want to try apt-get instead:

fink scanpackages
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade -u (or sudo apt-get install bundle-tetex)

There should at least be comprehensible error messages.

configure: error: no acceptable cc found in $PATH
### execution of ./configure failed, exit code 1
Failed: compiling dlcompat-20021117-1 failed
In such a case, you might want to have a look at the end of the config.log file, in this case in /sw/src/dlcompat-20021117-1/dlcompat-20021117/
It should give more information on why it thinks you have no working C compiler.
