I had the SDK installed before the User since the SDK appeared first. Running X11.app isn't a problem - it works beautifully with Gimp and Ethereal and I can run the latest build of KDE3 on it - although the quartz-wm titlebar is very annoying, but that's a separate issue :-)
I followed the instructions on the web site, and paid particular attention to anything repeatedly stated. It's just installing system-xfree that is a problem.
