Title: KDE-mare on Apple's X11
Hi,

I have a problem installing KDE on an Apple X11 beta 1 running on Jaguar. I am using Fink, via FinkCommander, to install binaries of KDE. I have selected ‘bundle-KDE’. FinkCommander builds the dependency tree properly and downloads all 182 listed packages. Then, the first dozen packages are unpacked but the process bumps over the ‘system-xfree86’ package. Apparently, the software looks for the following files but cannot locate them :
/usr/X11R6/lib/libX11.dylib
/usr/X11R6/lib/libXpm.dylib
/usr/X11R6/lib/libXaw.dylib
/usr/X11R6/include/X11/Xlib.h
The log message instructs to press a key to continue but nothing happens and there seems to be a process still running, some items in the FinkCommander menus being still greyed out.
Any clue what’s going on ?
Edward

BTW, I’m new on this board (also new to Unix as you may have gathered). If this issue has already been discussed in a message I missed out, forgive me for wasting everyone’s time and please let me know where to look.

Here is the part of the FinkCommander log when things started to turn sour :

Selecting previously deselected package system-xfree86.
Unpacking system-xfree86 (from .../system-xfree86_4.2-5_darwin-powerpc.deb) ...

Your XFree86 installation is missing or incomplete.  Please make sure you have
an XFree86 release installed and retry the installation of the system-xfree86
package.

The following XFree86 software is compatible with system-xfree86:

  XonX (from the XFree86 Project):
    http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=18034

  Apple X11:
    http://www.apple.com/macosx/x11/

Press a key to continue.
