Thanks Robert, that didn't have the info I needed, but I think I'm getting closer!

Robert quoted the FAQ:
If you want Fink to use all of unstable, edit /sw/etc/fink.conf, add unstable/main and unstable/crypto to the beginning of the Trees: line, and then run fink selfupdate; fink index.

The stuff in the Trees: line appears towards the end of the url

Mine looks at: rsync://master.us.finkmirrors.net/finkinfo/10.2/unstable/main/finkinfo
Yours looks at: rsync://master.us.finkmirrors.net/finkinfo/10.2-gcc3.3/stable/crypto/ finkinfo

Basically, this looks like rsync://[update site]/finkinfo/[distribution?]/[stuff from the Trees line]/finkinfo

so in order to make mine look like yours, I changed the line Distribution in the /sw/etc/fink.conf file to 10.2-gcc3.3 and at first it seemed to have worked. When I run self update the messages that appear on the screen are the same as yours.

However, fink selfupdate found nothing to install. Neither did fink update-all. In fact, I have the exact same number of packages as before I did this. (and my other problem, with abiword wanting to install xfree again isn't fixed either). So maybe I have just obfuscated the problem.

Thanks for helping, I know we're getting closer! :)
