What is the current recommendation for updating/installing packages with dependencies on xfree86 when apples x11 is already installed?

There is no package in the 10.3 tree that has a dependency on xfree86 only. There are two or three that have a versioned dependency on system-xfree86. If this does not work when you have Apple's X11, the X11 SDK, and the latest version of fink installed, it is a bug and should be chased down and exterminated.

Tobias is not the only one with this bug. I've been riping my hair out with it also. A clean install of OS X 10.3.1 patched with the latest and greatest from Apple and the Apple ver. of X11 installed.

Last night Fink tried to install a new X11 again while reporting that my system-xfree86 was current. During dependancy checking it did not see my system-xfree86 nor offer to in stall it as a choice to satisfy the dependancy. I down loaded Fink two nights ago and patched from CVS yesterday morning.

In my case, I needed to RE-install the X11 SDK frome the Xcode CD.

You DID install it, didn't you?
