Hi,

I'm relatively new to Fink, I've been trying to install the Evolution email/PIM client using both the command line and Fink Commander.

The problem I have is the one described in the FAQ at Q9.11: I installed Apple's X11 but Fink keeps asking to install XFree86

I've been through all of the trouble shooting options including uninstalling Apple's X11 environment, running

sudo dpkg -r --force-all system-xfree86 system-xfree86-42 system-xfree86-43 \
xfree86 xfree86-shilbs \

AAAGH--a typo. That should be "xfree86-shlibs", rather than "xfree86-shilbs", which unfortunately is the package that frequently has caused trouble. Try running "dpkg -l xfree86-shlibs" and see if you get anything back. If you do then you need to run

sudo dpkg -r --force-all xfree86-shlibs

Then reinstall Apple's X11.
