I tried that too and no luck. I'll let out my dark secret and that is that I've installed DarwinPorts (to get Gimp2) and I know that it has installed some qt3 pkgs. Those are in my home directory,however, and fink shouldn't even see them. I guess my current question is: how do I get fink to find the .deb files so I can reinstall qt3-3.2.3-13? I haven't had any luck with the FAQ on this.

no, I mean, try this:
sudo dpkg -r --force-all qt3-shlibs
fink install qt3
...this will build the newer qt3, but without the old library sticking around that's causing issues.
If that doesn't work, I'm stumped.
