One of our lecturers ask me to install SML/NJ on his iBook. I thought it was the easiest way to do that via fink.

fink list sml told me

sml-mode 3.9.5-13 Emacs mode for editing Standard ML source code
smlnj 110.46-1 Standard ML compiler, tools, & libraries
smlnj-burg [virtual package]
smlnj-ckit [virtual package]
smlnj-cml [virtual package]
smlnj-doc 110-2 Documentation for Standard ML of New Jersey
smlnj-runtime 110.42-1 Standard ML of New Jersey runtime system
ssmlib 0.0-pre-1-ysbl-2 CCP4 Macromolecular ssm Library

That sounds good, I thought. But I couldn't install it. I tried

        sudo apt-get install smlnj

and was told

[racoon:~/.xemacs] kuddel% sudo apt-get install smlnj

Password:
Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
E: Couldn't find package smlnj

I do not understand that. The listing tells me there is a package, but apt-get can't find it. I remember that I had a similar problem with another package, but I can't remember what was the solution.

Could anyone give me a hint how to install SML/NJ via fink.

Thanks a lot.
